I disagree with Tim's comment about Cormier not being a black mark on Krivsky's record. The link from the entry goes to the Reds Insider column here, and I do not buy the reasoning. Sorry.

Overall, it's not a bad record. Not on a par with Billy Beane or Theo Epstein, but not too bad. However, it seems many of his best moves were right at the beginning of his tenure, when he was trying to gather talent into a wayward organization. It was that first spring training, when he signed Scott Hatteberg, then brought in Ross, Arroyo, and Phillips, that most of what he accomplished in the transaction area was done. Since then, his record is remarkably checkered. This may have been a sign that while he helped turn the club around, he was not the one to lead it forward. Perhaps Walt Jocketty is the one for that. We shall see.
