The Reds get set to play San Diego in a three-game series at Great American Ballpark. The Padres have the worst record in the National League. It would be nice if the Reds could capitalize on that, and push their own record closer to .500. Cincinnati enters tonight at 48-52 and in fourth place in the NL Central. Most of the next three weeks will be playing teams with losing records, so now is a good time for a hot streak. SD has the lowest-scoring team in the league, which is partly a product of their home park. They are 13th in road scoring. The Pads are 9th in ERA, but again, that is partly park-driven. They have the second-worst road ERA, better only than Pittsburgh. This is also something of a reunion series, as Jerry Hairston's brother Scott is playing left field for the Padres. Too bad Jerry is on the DL. |
